Smoked Tuna Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 pack (2 tins) smoked tuna piquant TRATA
  • 1 medium-sized onion, chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, grated
  • 2tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 1tsp lemon zest
  • 1egg
  • 50g bread crumbs
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • Salt
  • 2tbsp olive oil, for cooking

For the sauce

  • 500g tomatoes, grated
  • 200g tomato sauce
  • 2tbsp onion, chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped
  • 3tbsp olive oil
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • Salt

Method

Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Drain the tuna and place it in a large mixing bowl. Add the bread crumbs, and the rest of the ingredients and mix by hand to incorporate. Form the mixture into 12 evenly sized balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 20′.
Prepare the sauce. Place all ingredients in a sauce pan. Stir and let simmer for 15′ until it thickens.
Add the tuna meatballs, spoon the sauce over them and remove from heat.
Serve with spaghetti, ground pistachio and parsley.
